Sport Fishing in Los Cabos and San Jose del Cabo

Same boats as Cabo sport fishing charters. This page is the geography: two towns, two seas, one marina.

Sport Fishing in Los Cabos — What the Region Covers

Los Cabos is the municipality: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, plus the hotel corridor between them. Sport fishing in Los Cabos is not a second fleet. It is the same Cabo fishing boats that leave Dock A. If you search “sport fishing San Jose del Cabo,” you still clear the Cabo San Lucas harbor.

The home page covers the product — Cabo sport fishing charters from $450. This page covers the map: two towns, two seas, and which bank sits on which side.

Sea of Cortez vs Pacific — Where to Fish in Los Cabos

Sea of Cortez

Usually the calmer side. Better for inshore and light tackle. Gordo Banks sits here — about 8 miles off San Jose del Cabo, the only Gordo mile figure already published on the deep sea page. Yellowfin and marlin.

Pacific

Rougher, stronger offshore water. San Jaime, Golden Gate (~25 miles), and Finger Bank sit here. San Jaime and Finger have no mile figure on this site. Blue and black marlin, wahoo, striped marlin.

Cold Pacific water meeting warmer Cortez water is the upwelling destination guides cite for bait. Winter water sits in the mid-70s °F; September near 85 °F (Top Anglers). Visit Los Cabos describes about 300 boats leaving before dawn in high season. Those are destination figures, not a Boats Baja log.

Sport Fishing in San Jose del Cabo

San Jose del Cabo is the quieter town and the airport side (SJD). You do not launch a second sportfishing fleet from the estuary. Transfer to Marina Cabo San Lucas, then run. Gordo is the bank that sits off this town on the Cortez side. If your hotel is on the corridor — between the two towns — the van still goes west to Dock A. Plan the night before a 6 a.m. lines-off; same-morning SJD arrivals are a bet on immigration.

Sport Fishing in Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas is the marina town. Land's End and the Arch are the inshore marks (5–15 miles on a half-day). Full-day boats run 20–35 miles to the banks. This is where Cabo sport fishing charters start. Shared, private, yacht, and the 3-hour sunset window all use the same dock.

Los Cabos Sport Fishing Banks — Gordo, Golden Gate and San Jaime

  • Gordo Banks — Cortez. ~8 miles off San Jose. Tuna and marlin.
  • San Jaime Bank — Pacific. Tuna, wahoo, blue and black marlin. No miles published.
  • Golden Gate Bank — Pacific. ~25 miles. Striped marlin (Picante).
  • Finger Bank — Pacific, north. Large marlin; wahoo and tuna on the deep sea page. No miles published.

Best Season for Sport Fishing in Los Cabos

Cool water favors striped marlin. Warm water favors blue marlin and dorado. Wahoo shows on the Pacific banks later in the year. The month-by-month table is not repeated here — it lives on Cabo fishing seasons month by month. We do not publish a second calendar while the captains have not signed off on the research file.
